Bento 886 sits quietly in a small plaza just off Highway 7 in Unionville, offering a straightforward spot to grab authentic Taiwanese comfort food without fuss. This Taiwanese and Chinese restaurant caters mostly to takeaway orders, but there are a number of simple tables inside for those wanting to sit down for a quick, casual meal. The space feels like a no-frills local lunch counter where efficiency and straightforward flavors take center stage.

The menu centers around classic Taiwanese bentos and fried snacks, making it a solid choice for anyone craving a taste of home-style Taiwanese cooking in Markham. Popular picks like the braised pork belly rice and signature Taiwanese sausage give a genuine sense of the island’s street food staples, while dishes like the popcorn chicken (雞排) are fried just right—crispy on the outside yet tender inside. Most bento boxes come with rice, vegetables, and even an egg included, which adds to the satisfying, homely feel of each meal.

Visitors looking for a quick lunch or an easy dinner takeaway will appreciate the prompt service and simple ordering process. The atmosphere is functional rather than atmospheric, so this is less a spot for lingering over long dinners and more a dependable choice for those wanting familiar, flavourful Taiwanese dishes to enjoy at work or home.

Bento 886 draws a mix of locals who appreciate genuine Taiwanese flavors without the adornments. Given its location near a busy highway and surrounded by car dealerships and chain outlets, it’s a convenient pit stop for nearby workers and families who want quality food on the go. The portion sizes are generous, which makes it worthwhile for sharing or ordering a party tray to feed several.

For anyone interested in straightforward Taiwanese bentos and snacks that focus on authenticity and generous portions, Bento 886 is a practical, mobile-friendly option in the Unionville neighborhood—best visited around lunch or early dinner hours when takeout orders pick up.

Went for lunch — the service was quick and it was easy to order. The food was great, and I loved the melon tea. Visited again, always love the food. Fan of their rice balls with sausage. Ordered a party tray and it was really tasty. Definitely worth the money!

Bento 886 is a little Taiwanese bento place with tasty food choices. It tucks in a small plaza across Hwy-7 from Papa John's next to the Volvo dealership. It's a food court/ self service style eatery in a store. Good for take-outs but you can dine-in. They have a number of tables and seats. Good selections of appetizer. The bento bowl has a good portion. Cashier is nice. Easy meal. I like it. Recommended.

Popped into this place for a quick bite to eat and I really enjoyed the food. The three cup chicken was really flavorful and the Taiwanese popcorn chicken was fried really well. The squid tentacles were also fried quite well too. I like how a lot of the Bento boxes come with an egg and it's not an extra component you have to pay for. The vegetables that came with the rice were also very enjoyable and I found the portions well sized. The stuff are really nice and the service was quick too. I'll definitely be coming here again.

Located right beside Highway 7, this tiny Taiwanese Bantou restaurant offers a simple yet satisfying dining experience. It’s mostly a counter-service place with many customers opting for take-out. The menu may be limited, but every dish packs a punch of authentic Taiwanese flavors. I had the chance to try their signature dishes, and the taste was amazing. The flavors are rich, comforting, and spot-on — just like you’d get from a homey spot in Taiwan. My son ordered the salt and pepper chicken and couldn’t get enough of it. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Despite its size, this place does a great job with what they offer, serving up a genuine taste of Taiwan. If you’re looking for something authentic, this is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for a small, no-frills environment. Tip: Ideal for a quick bite or take-out when you’re craving authentic Taiwanese food

The food was good but I had better Taiwanese box bentos for lower cost. What I like: fried chicken steak and popcorn chicken What I don't like: the Vegs or sides were bland

Finally visited this place serving authentic Taiwanese food! I highly recommend the Signature 886 bento, it gives you a bit of everything and the portion is pretty generous! Besides everything you see in the picture of the bento you also get a serving of popcorn chicken on the side with it! You can easily share one order with two persons. Their braised mince pork was soooo good and brought me down memory lane as I had the same in Taiwan. Out of all the places I had Taiwanese food this place really nails the taste! It’s to no surprise either during my dining there’s a constant flow of customers - people vote with their wallets! Will definitely come again!
